What personality traits do Young Entrepreneurs have?

If you were to have a group of twenty your entrepreneurs take a personality test you would probably get surprisingly similar results. Beyond the typical type A personality, young entrepreneurs have many of the same inherent personality traits. These are the things that give them both the drive and desire to take the risks involved in building a business from the ground up. If you think that you want to start a business you should examine these traits to see how the relate to you because they can be a beacon of success.

Young Entrepreneurs Top Ten Personality Traits

Leadership - This an obvious and necessary trait of any young entrepreneurs. While the young entrepreneur may not have been the class president or captain of any sports team they are probably the person who naturally falls into leadership roles. Good leaders fit the bill in a natural way and are most happy when they are in charge of a given situation.

Creative Spirit - If you want to start a business you will have to be able to solve problems, even when the solution is not at all obvious. This is where your creativity will come into play and where true entrepreneurs emerge. If you can figure out how to get your employees motivated or how to make things run better or faster then you are on your way to being a success.

Being Willing To Listen - While you might think a good entrepreneur flies solo it is not entirely true. To be successful you must also be willing to listen to people around you because they have experience and ideas that you can draw on and improve your business. Knowing that you do not know all there is to know is an incredibly important skill for any business owner.

Self Motivated - When you first open a business it is easy to get discouraged. It is also far too easy to choose to take off more days then you should once you become your own boss. The successful entrepreneur is not tempted by these problems, because their motivation lies within themselves. Even when little profits are coming in or the weekend is calling young entrepreneurs will press on in the quest to make their business successful.

Willingness To Get Your Hands Dirty - This is key to running any business, a willingness to do every job in the company. You cannot be satisfied sitting behind a desk and doling out tasks to your employees. Instead, you have to be willing to get in the trenches and do whatever work is necessary. While you do not have to be an expert at every task it helps that you know enough to run the business and ask for help whenever you need it.

Detail Oriented - Young entrepreneurs understand that no detail is too small for them to consider. These people constantly check and recheck things to make sure that everything they do is perfect  so that there are no surprises and no mistakes that could have been avoided.

Toughness - The business world is not an easy place to live. If you expect to succeed there you will have to be able to take your lumps and get back up from them. You will hear complaints from customers and other businesses about your product or service that you will have to learn to deal with on a level that is not personal. If you are not tough you will easily be discouraged which is the beginning of the end for any business.

Willing To Take Risks - As you would expect the young entrepreneur has to be someone who like an adventure and is not afraid to take the risks associated with it. Starting any business is a leap of faith, no matter how certain you are that your product or service will be a success. Those who are uncomfortable at the prospect of taking chances are probably better suited to working for someone else rather then running their own company.

Being Flexible - There is one thing about all businesses that is absolutely certain and that is change. No matter what type of business you start there will be near constant road blocks that you will have to deal with that will put you off your intended course. The ability to make decisions and change course as necessary while still finding the way to meet your goal is a skill that no young entrepreneur can succeed without.

Perseverance - Success does not happen overnight. Most entrepreneurs will tell you that it takes years to get a business off the ground and even longer to find true and steady success. The person who is able to understand that and willing to be patient and wait out the difficult times is the one who truly has an entrepreneurial spirit. They know that true success comes from a business that grows and develops over time and not one that simply turns a quick profit and then fades away.

Not everyone is cut out to be an entrepreneur, but those who are can be easily identified through their shared personality traits. These are the people who lead without being asked, the people who are more afraid of not trying then of losing, and the people who are willing to do whatever it takes to be a success. You can tell an entrepreneur by the way that they pay attention to what others have to say and the way they eat up new ideas and develop them into something better then the average person could have thought up.

Entrepreneurs take small ideas and build on them to make them ground breaking and exciting. If these personality traits are things that you see in yourself then perhaps you have a great idea you should consider making into a successful business. Remember that a winning attitude, hard work, and a great idea is the best combination for a successful business, if you have that in you do not let it slip away.
